Love and Care For Aging Parents

My dad is preparing to have stents placed in his heart this week.  He is facing this next physical battle with his usual, quiet strength.  The rest of us, however, are spinning in various states of anxiety, trying to plan for anything!

Experience has taught us that even “simple, one night in the hospital” procedures, require post procedure care and rehabilitation.  With a quad bypass behind him, and congestive heart failure, we realize that the road ahead only leads to one destination.

Enjoying this journey with my parents is something I honestly never thought I’d be doing.  My grandparents passed away in their 60’s…not old by today’s standards (or maybe it’s because I’m older now).  We are climbing different kinds of mountains in life…all of us.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my dad.  At the time, he was quite addicted to watching “Ancient Aliens”…over and over again!

Whatever your mountain, I wish you strength to endure the climb❤️

  1. Your dad looks so happy with the kids. Brother looks good, hopefully his confidence is high. AOA she looks so happy, no doubt the break has been good for them. All we can do is pray. May God hold the families hands, send his Holy love down for a uneventful surgery and recovery. God slow Dad down if he is doing to much. God you know all the answers, we pray you embrace the family and pull everyone together in this difficult time. Amen.
